The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert A shape with lion body and the head of a man, A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun, Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds. Among other things, "The Second Coming" takes its imagery from Yeats's book, A Vision, a zodiac of sorts that he developed with his wife through "visitations" and automatic writing.

Only two takes of Twist And Shout were recorded. The first made it to the album; by the second Lennon's voice had gone, and the session came to a halt. Twist And Shout was released as a single in the US on 2 March 1964 by the Tollie label. It reached number two on the Billboard chart. In the UK the song was the title track of The Beatles' first EP, which topped the charts following its release on 12 July 1963. It was issued on 3 February 1964. Listen to the bass drum, particularly coming out of the middle 8. Ringo is kicking the band in the ass, driving the beat as a drummer should. Listen to other later recordings like London Palladium or the Command Performance and you will hear the exact same thing. It is clearly Ringo playing on this track.
