Deadbeat Club" is a song by the B-52's. It was released as the fifth and final single from their 1989 album Cosmic Thing. It peaked at No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1990. The song is about the band's early days in Athens when they would hang around in cafes drinking coffee. Because they didn't work or do anything, their parents nicknamed them "Deadbeats. The B-52's is the debut album by the Athens, Georgia-based new wave band the B-52's. The kitschy lyrics and mood, and the hook-laden harmonies helped establish a fanbase for the band, who went on to release several chart-topping singles.

Cosmic Thing soared to the top of the Billboard Album chart, sold five million copies and yielded their first-ever Hot 10 hits - "Love Shack" and "Roam" and a Top 40 hit with "Deadbeat Club. The B-52s advanced their reputation as the greatest party band on the planet to a whole new generation of music fans. They played to sold-out audience worldwide on a tour that would last more than 18 months, including an Earth Day gig before nearly 750,000 people in New York City's Central Park. Soon after, Cindy Wilson amicably departed.

A fourth single, "Deadbeat Club", which reminisced about the band's early days in Athens and whose video was shot on location and featured a cameo by fellow Athens artist . s Michael Stipe, reached No. 30. Cosmic Thing climbed into the . top five and earned multi-platinum certification. The album debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard charts in the . immediately making it the second-highest charting B-52s album ever. The band toured in support of the album as well as making appearances on talk shows, including The Tonight Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and performing on The Today Show on Memorial Day 2008.
