1992, EMPYRIA released their 1st - 6 song demo, following it up with the first independent album Ornamental Ironworks (8-song cassette), released independently in 1993, featuring a progressive rock influence. 1994, the band recorded a 2 song demo, which garnered them a management deal from Florida based Dustin Hardman Entertainment (Kamelot, Oppressor). 1995, saw the band sign a deal with the German T&T, Noise Records GmbH label and release their first full length Behind Closed Doors on March 3rd 1996, which featured a heavier and more progressive metal sound.

EMPYRIA is a power metal music artist. The Canadian Progressive power Metal band EMPYRIA formed in Vancouver . Canada) in 1991 by guitarist Mike Kischnick, Paul Falcon bass/vocals Empyria and Simon Adam EMPYRIA followed the traditional path of gigs and demos refining their craft until a pro-demo was released in 1993 called Ornamental Ironworks.

Another tape followed in 1994. One final two-song demo was further completed with assistance from government grant. The trio entered Greenhouse studios in Burnaby and recorded its debut album Behind Closed Doors in 1996 for T&T Records of Germany. The band was now managed by future Nuclear Blast America boss Dustin Hardman. A few shows followed and Falcon soon left the band. EMPYRIA - SENSE OF MIND - SCRAPE Empyria's Sense Of Mind leaves one of two minds. Put in another way, the music featured herein is superior to the vocals. The music from these west coast metallers is not revolutionary, but certainly quite respectable. It is above average in form as it twists and turns into one's ears. The guitar leads are entertainingly powerful, smooth and the best part of the album.
