That's part of what Bloc Party frontman Kele Okerere seems to have in mind when he describes this album as "Technicolor. He means it has big sound, big hooks, energetic performances, ambition- all the things that make rock bands sound skilled and confident. He means no messing around, no interludes or experiments. Put it like that, and what Bloc Party actually sound like drops pretty low on the list of things you need to know about Silent Alarm. What perhaps matters most is that they're trying to make one of those clean, consistent, ambitious Popular Guitar Rock albums- and depending on how much stock you put in that kind of thing, they've done a great job of it. This is a solid, intelligent album that a lot of people will love- one that'll slot onto indie-crossover CD racks right beside the debuts from Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, and the Futureheads.

Released February 2, 2005. Silent Alarm Tracklist. 1. Like Eating Glass Lyrics. Silent Alarm is the debut full length from UK indie rock band Bloc Party, released on 2 February 2005 in Japan and 14 February 2005 worldwide. It spawned four singles: So Here We Are, Banquet, Pioneers and Helicopter. Several tracks on the album build upon previous demos from the group’s self-titled debut EP and Little Thoughts EP, both released in 2004. The album received largely positive reception, entering the UK charts at number three and selling over a million copies

Silent Alarm is also more varied than Bloc Party's early work indicated it might be, spanning edgy pop, atmospheric ballads, and angular, percussive tracks that are all served well by the album's big, layered production. The great single "Banquet" and even better opening track, "Like Eating Glass," put Bloc Party's heart-on-sleeve emotions in the service of tight, energetic songwriting that makes their earnestness a little easier to swallow

Redirected from Silent Alarm (album)). Silent Alarm is the debut studio album by British indie rock band Bloc Party. Recorded in Copenhagen and London in mid-2004 with producer Paul Epworth, it was released in February 2005 on Wichita Recordings. The record peaked at number three on the United Kingdom Albums Chart. In the United States, it entered the Billboard 200 at number 114 and the Billboard Top Independent Albums at number seven.

Silent Alarm rockets right out of the gate: Its first four tracks, undeniable highlights all, are driven by a taut, propulsive rhythm section. A duo of chiming guitars intertwines, and Kele Okereke's yelps build the tension, which eventually explodes on syncopated dance punk anthem "Banquet. The band then slowly unwinds with "Blue Light" and "This Modern Love," the kind of big, dramatic ballads that have the power to make you dance while you cry. Silent Alarm Bloc Party.
