Ha!-Ha!-Ha! is the second album by British pop group Ultravox, at that time known as "Ultravox!", with an exclamation mark, as a nod to Neu!. Although the group would later achieve fame and commercial success with lead singer Midge Ure the band was, in 1977, led by singer/songwriter John Foxx who was accompanied by guitarist Stevie Shears, drummer Warren Cann, bassist Chris Cross and keyboard/violinist Billy Currie.

Ultravox! Ha!-Ha!-Ha! ‎ (LP, Album + 7", Single). Island Records, Island Records.

Ha ha ha is the sound of laughter. Ha ha ha may also refer to: Ha! Ha! Ha! (1934 film), a Betty Boop animated short. Hahaha (film), a 2010 South Korean film. Ha!-Ha!-Ha!, a 1977 album by British pop group Ultravox. Ha Ha Ha (album), a 2012 album by Australian singer-songwriter Natalie Gauci, or the title track. Ha Ha Ha", a 1997 song by Eraserheads from Sticker Happy. Hahaha", a 2018 song by Death Grips from Year of the Snitch. Haha (disambiguation).

At the time they seemed impossibly, romantically, futuristic. Forty years on they sound impossibly, romantically, futuristic. The first album, co-produced by an impressive line-up of Brian Eno (Foxx had loved Another Green World), Steve Lillywhite and the band, is clearly a product of a diet of literate Bowie and glam with a minor strain of punk aggression. Photos from the time – and remember that even supreme sultans of suave Japan went through the awkward wardrobe years - show five young men not quite sure whether to dress glam or punk. The sneer of the latter feels a little glued on, as if they knew they were supposed to be more angry, less poetically reflective. By the second album – produced by Lillywhite and.

Ha! is a bruising album, a tsunami of a set that epitomized the fire and fury of its age. Icy to its core, producer Steve Lillywhite brilliantly captured both the band's urgency and the brittleness of their sound. Like the implosion of gases that ignited the Big Bang, Ha!-Ha!-Ha! hangs in the millisecond before the ensuing explosion, trembling with ferocious tension and fierce anticipation of the coming storm. Much of the set seems frozen in this moment in time and space, lyrically reflected in "Hiroshima Mon Amour," "Man Who Dies Every Day," and "Frozen Ones.

Reviews:
  • Felolune
"The Man Who Dies Everyday" and "Hiroshima Mon Amour" are classics, but elsewhere this album is marred by Stevie Shears awful guitar tone, why did he (or the producer) want the guitar parts to sound like Brian May circa '72 ? As a whole this album is just glam (past the best by date) sold in punk packaging. Must have sounded dated even in '77.

I bought this when it was released. It was on the cutting edge of the forthcoming 'Post-Punk' stuff. It was rocking, but it had the Ballardian/Futurism stuff which set it apart from other stuff. The free single was good too!

In addition to 2 vinyl copies, I have the original CD, the remaster CD and this one. It says High Def 24/96 remastering, which there's no reason dispute, but the CD res is actually normal 16/44 on analysis with a number of recording/ripping platforms. The official remaster from Island label is of much higher quality than this copy. This copy is on par with the original CD.Comparison made using AIFF's on an A&K320 with B&W P9's.

Mine has very little Bass. Do the other Copies of this Release sound normal ?
  • Still In Mind
I bought a repress with bubble labels that, like you, I thought sounded flat so went and got an original copy with multi coloured labels and porky prime cut in the dead wax. It is very much better - more bass, crisper high end.
  • Konetav
Side B sounds a little Bit better than Side A.
  • Painwind
One of my favorite songs of all time is the alternate b-side version of Hiroshima Mon Amour. To my knowledge it can only be found on the 2006 remastered CD. Does it exist anywhere on vinyl -- original or repress?
  • RUsich155
You can pick-up the 'punkier' version of "Hiroshima... " on the b-side of the single "Rockwrok", which is also slightly different from the album version.
  • Tejar
This is the same release as the LP at the top of the list which also says first 10,000 copies included the 7" single so I'm not sure if it should be listed twice.
