Proud Mary" is a rock n' roll song written by John Fogerty and first recorded by his band Creedence Clearwater Revival. The song was released by Fantasy Records as a single from the band's second studio album, Bayou Country, which was released by the same record company in January 1969. The single is generally considered to have been released in early January 1969, although at least one source states that it came out just before Christmas 1968.

Proud Mary: The Bell Sessions Tracklist. 1. Proud Mary Lyrics.
Bell had already dropped Burke by the time Proud Mary's title cut had become a hit single, which seems like utter foolishness given the strength of this material - Solomon Burke and the Muscle Shoals crew were a superb match, and this album finds them bringing out the best in one another.
Solomon Burke very sweet voice for such a big man He knows how deliver a song. Other highlights include the spine chilling "Uptight Good Woman", the up beat "How Big a Fool (Can a Fool Be)" and covers of Otis Reddings' "These Arms of Mine" & Marvin Gayes' "I'll be Doggone". I first discovered Solomon Burke from Nick Honrby's novel "High Fidelity. It's a swell song, and that album is quite good, worth owning, but it in no way prepared me for the power, and genius, and purity of purpose in "The Bell Sessions," which I've been listening to over and over and over for a few weeks now.
