Curtis Mayfield: Live In Europe. Curtis Mayfield (June 3, 1942 – December 26, 1999) was an American soul, funk and rhythm and blues, singer-songwriter and guitarist from Chicago, Illinois. Mayfield is probably best known for his anthemic music with The Impressions and for the soundtrack to the blaxploitation film Superfly. Judged merely by his records alone, the man's legacy is enormous.
Curtis Mayfield addresses this problem in the title track to his 1973 album, Back to the World. It’s never too easy coming back. And in 1973, Curtis felt something like this : I am blind and I cannot see, You are there, your petty evil don’t bother me, Playing all the clothes you wear, Laugh at me, pressed and clean, and I don’t care. Tracks: A1 Back To The World (6:47) A2 Future Shock (5:17) A3 Right On For The Darkness (7:28) B1 Future Song (Love A Good Woman, Love A Good Man) (5:00) B2 If I Were Only A Child Again (2:52) B3 Can’t Say Nothin’ (5:13) B4 Keep On Trippin’ (3: 16). Pure genius from Curtis Mayfield and a record that’s got all the righteousness and political power you might guess from the cover!
Back in the world Back in the world Back in the world Back in the world. Crawlin' through the trees Stuck in mud up to the knees Fightin' this damn war Wonderin' if the Lord knows what it's for. Six long years stretch And we boys was in a hell of a mess I gotta keep my mind; take it slow Fightin' hard for what I don't know. I wanna get back home, gotta get back home Back to the world
LP (12" album, 33 rpm). Curtis Mayfield Format: Vinyl. Curtis Mayfield's lyrics and Richard Tufo's arrangement of the title cut paint a vivid, frank, gut wrenching picture of life for returning . s from the Vietnam War. If music videos were around back in 1973, the video for this song would probably resemble the album cover. The horns, strings, rhythm section, and special sound effects (beginning and ending) evoke movement. The final song "Keep On Trippin'" also stands out from the rest of the songs. Different from the others in presenting a softer sound from Curtis Mayfield
