A delightful and accurate concert on Noel Coward. Peter Greenwell shows a superb understanding of "The Master" with his anecdotes and interpretations. Having known Peter Greenwell many years ago, it is worth checking out his 2 musicals Twenty Minutes South and The Crooked Mile. It is wonderful to hear Coward's music and Mr. Greenwell's anecdotes are delightful. This recording is a definite must for Coward fans.

Sir Noël Peirce Coward (16 December 1899 – 26 March 1973) was an English playwright, composer, director, actor and singer, known for his wit, flamboyance, and what Time magazine called "a sense of personal style, a combination of cheek and chic, pose and poise". Coward attended a dance academy in London as a child, making his professional stage début at the age of eleven

Known even to his peers as the Master, No?l Coward was master of all thespian trades and jack of none. When I first met him, he did not resemble the image conjured up by Hermione Gingold in an Alan Melville revue of Mr. Coward in his exquisitely flowered dressing gown. He had asked me to meet him at Heathrow on a rather dismal November day in 1960, whence he was catching an early flight to Geneva, en route from his house in Jamaica to another at Montreux-les-Avants, via the Dorchester

A Talent To Amuse Quotes Showing 1-1 of 1. If by any chance a playwright wishes to express a political opinion or a moral opinion or a philosophy, he must be a good enough craftsman to do it with so much spice of entertainment in it that the public get the message without being aware of it. ― Noël Coward, A Talent To Amuse: A Biography Of Noël Coward. tags: craft, drama, entertainment, opinion, philosophy, g, writing.
