Hey Jude topped the charts in Britain for two weeks and for 9 weeks in America, where it became The Beatles longest-running N. in the US singles chart as well as the single with the longest running time. The Beatles did not record their promotional film until Hey Jude had been on sale in America for a week. They returned to Twickenham Film Studio, using director Michael Lindsay-Hogg who had worked with them on Paperback Writer and Rain

Hey Jude’, which was recorded between 31 July and 1 August during the White Album sessions, but which was released three months before that album came out, spent nine weeks at No. 1 of the UK charts, the longest time any Beatles single ever stayed in the top spot. Revolution’, the B-side, was recorded in July 1968 as a radical remake of the version of the song which had already been laid down for the White Album. I suspect that the first time ‘Hey Jude’ was released on an album was on 1967–1970, the celebrated ‘Blue album’. Since those compilations have become redundant, the best way to get a copy of it is on the Past Masters album. k views · View 13 Upvoters · Answer requested by.

The Hey Jude album was a project conceived by Allen Klein and Apple Records. Klein had negotiated a more lucrative contract for the Beatles in 1969 and was keen to maximise the band’s income through the release of a new album. He also focused more on recent singles than on earlier material. He would do this for several releases thereafter. Originally, the album was to be called The Beatles Again.

Hey Jude (Beatles album), Hey Jude original title: The Beatles Again is a 1970 collection of non-album singles and B-sides by the Beatles It included I Should Have Known.

Albums" Box Set - released 21 January 2014. If you don't want the large and expensive Box - each has been given an individual issue too (except "The Beatles Story" which is exclusive to the Box Set). The Apple side ends with the monster guitars of Lennon's stunning "Revolution" - a hundred million light years away from the mop tops that charmed everyone in 1963 and 1964 (you know it's gonna be alright). Side 2 opens with the full 7:10-minute majesty of "Hey Jude" – a McCartney ballad and the first worldwide Apple 7" single that to this day astonishes with its sheer staying power (rocking John held the B-side with "Revolution" - different to the two variants on "The White Album").

To that end, Hey Jude was released on Feb. 26, 1970. It wasn't until 1967's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band that Beatles albums included the exact same tracks on both sides of the Atlantic
