Face to Face That I Shall Meet Him" (Traditional; adapted by Joseph Spence) – 3:16. The Pearls, Tia Juana" (Jelly Roll Morton; adapted by Ry Cooder) – 4:18. Ry Cooder is the debut album by roots rock musician Ry Cooder, released in 1970. Alimony" (Brenda Jones, Welton Young, Robert Higginbotham) - 2:55. France Chance" (Joe Callicott) - 2:45. How Can a Poor Man Stand Such Times and Live?" (Alfred Reed) - 2:45. Pigmeat" (Huddie Ledbetter) - 3:07.

Beginning with his self-titled debut in 1970, Ry Cooder's records seemed to be as much history lesson as they were entertainment. Not because Cooder was trying to club you over the head with this stuff; he simply gravitated to great songs, no matter what the era or genre. Released in 1978, Jazz seems to be his first conscious attempt at a concept album, in the historical sense.

Jazz (Ry Cooder album). Studio album by Ry Cooder. Jazz is the seventh album by Ry Cooder, produced by Joseph Byrd and Ry Cooder and released on the Warner Bros.

Cooder was ranked eighth on Rolling Stone magazine's 2003 list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" (David Fricke's Picks). Ry Cooder is the eponymous debut album by roots rock musician Ry Cooder, released in 1970.

Exclusive Prime pricing. This is a classic album of high level, for those interested in authentic music styles and the work of Ry Cooder. The treatment in terms of arrangement and instrumentation is exceptional; this album takes you back, to another era not only but also place. It might very well be the right up there with his other productions of the Buena Vista Social Club, of Cuba, in the 90's (roughly 15 years later).
