A remix album is an album consisting of remixes or rerecorded versions of an artists' earlier released material. The first act who employed the format was American singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson (Aerial Pandemonium Ballet, 1971). As of 2019, the best-selling remix album of all time was Michael Jackson's Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix (1997). List of best-selling music artists.

Ben Neill has been described as a creative composer, genius performer and inventor of the mutantrumpet (Time Out NY) whose music masterfully blurs the lines between electronic dance music and jazz sounds (Billboard). Neill's latest CD Night Science is out now on Thirsty Ear Recordings. His new music combines dubstep beats and basslines with the trippy, otherworldly sonic explorations of his self-invented instrument, the mutantrumpet.

For a trumpet player, Neill proves himself a masterful drum'n'bass merchant and an excellent keyboardist to boot on his 1998 album Goldbug. From the opening track "Tunnel Vision," Neill's blend of breakbeats and occasional mutant trumpet solos sound better than many producers in the drum'n'bass community. There are some notable guests (including DJ Spooky and Page Hamilton), but they appear on few tracks and never take the focus away from Neill's excellent album.
