Complete your Linus Loves collection. The Victoria Principle. This album is heavily indebted to 80s synth pop: "VH1" is a smooth throwback, bringing along "Night Music" with it to throw into the electro pool. The cheekily titled "The Victoria Principle" is coolly crisp, while the blip circus of "Hot + Wrong" throbs with energy before the easygoing "Baby I'm Amazed" closes out the album. Linus Loves ‎– Stage Invader. Label: Breastfed ‎– BFD020CD. Like Mylo, Linus Loves is very much influenced by the 80s, but creates records that couldn't have existed in that decade. Not as essential as Mylo, but still an extremely enjoyable album. Reply Notify me 1 Helpful.

Linus Loves is Breastfed label manager Duncan Reid. And, if theres one thing hes learned from Mylo its that variety sells. In keeping with the stables ethic, this lovable album sees Linus equally comfortable tweaking those disco loop EQs and easing the tempos for a breezy, country parody. Stage Invader is no mish-mash of sounds thrown together to cash-in on the Stevie Nicks revival that The Terrace (Stand Up) sparked way back when. In fact the version included here is the superior dub version that first introduced us Mr Loves.

Stage Invader is the first studio album by the British dance music group Linus Loves, released on 22 May 2006. 9. "The Victoria Principle". 10. "Hold Me Closer".

Linus Loves is the alias of Scottish dance music remixer/producer Duncan Reid and, until 2005, a duo consisting of himself and Kevin McKay. Reid and McKay co-founded Breastfed Recordings together in 2002 with Myles MacInnes, known as Mylo. McKay left the outfit in 2005, and Reid has continued using the moniker until the present day. The outfit is best known for their 2003 hit single, "Stand Back", with vocals by Sam Obernik. It was a cover version of the 1983 Stevie Nicks' song

As co-owner (with Mylo) of Breastfed Records, Linus Loves was bound to have some tricks up his sleeve, and on his debut STAGE INVADER, he sets up a smooth entry to "The Love," a slow but funky homage to Marvin Gaye, as well as a cover of 10cc's "Waterfall." But once they get to their own material, like the electro of "Rock Chk," they show they're more than just a cover band (though the Pet Shop Boys' "One More Chance", Prince's "The Terrace" and Colourbox all have their tracks redone). A fun throwback.

Although not as good as label mate and friend Mylo's album 'Destroy Rock And Roll', if you like that album, you will probably enjoy this. Unlike Mylo's debut, not every track on here is brilliant, but those that are merit some praise-'Rock Chk', 'VH1', 'Night Music', 'The Terrace', 'The Victoria Principle', and 'Baby I'm Amazed' are all fun, danceable, catchy tunes. Like Mylo, Linus Loves is very much influenced by the 80s, but creates records that couldn't have existed in that decade. Not as essential as Mylo, but still an extremely enjoyable album. 8/10
