4 Steps In Hardcore is easily the best Happy Hardcore track on this vinyl. This is Paul Elstak's attempt to emulate Scooter, Dyewitness and Ultra-Sonic, and to be fair, it's very well done. 4 Steps In Hardcore is forgotten due to the success of Paul Elstak and his more commercial ventures, highly profitable and enough cheese to supply Pizza Hut for years. The live crowd/concert sound really helps the track. There are three good synth melodies in the track so it never gets boring. The first melody sounds a bit too good for Mr. Elstak and possibly taken from a English Breakbeat track, but I'm not sure. The other two are definitely by him and progress the track quite effectively. The most surprising part of this emulation is MC Irwin. His vocals are simple and to the point, his voice is clear and well spoken for a Dutchman, introducing certain aspects of the track and complementing the music. Paul Elstak places his vocals exceptionally well throughout. MC Irwin's "See Ya" at the end is nice. The record cover is taken from the cringe worthy video for The Promised Land. The guys who helped Paul Elstak on The Promised Land and his other singles would become Klubbheads and have a big influence on Hard House. Check out the In Groups part of their profiles!
