Live at The Lighthouse is a live album by American jazz guitarist Grant Green featuring a performance recorded at the Lighthouse Café in Hermosa Beach, California in 1972 and released on the Blue Note label.

Live at the Lighthouse makes a fine companion piece to the excellent Alive!, though there are some subtle differences which give the album its own distinct flavor. For starters, the average track length is even greater, with four of the six jams clocking in at over 12 minutes. That makes it easy to get lost in the grooves as the musicians ride and work them over. What's more, the rhythmic foundation of the group is noticeably altered.

Complete your Grant Green collection. Stick with earlier releases for this album; while they're not perfect they are a better listening experience and probably more true to the original recordings. Just because Grant Green made Live At The Lighthouse during the psychedelic era does not mean that Green was groovy green neon. This amazingly fast and melodic guitarist made most of his albums for Blue Note. This is important: while labels like Impulse and ESP flew as quick as possible into deep space jazz free and funk and fusion, Blue Note-and its artists-took these ideas and wedged them in more traditional jazz structures. All of which worked wonderfully for Blue Note, and Green. Live At The Lighthouse is funk jazz, but no George Clinton acid wash. Green's axe playing here is pretty. Live At The Lighthouse" is only six songs deep. There are some lengthy sets on this album.

This version is actually a 20bit SBM remaster. Sounds great and what an amazingly powerful highly energetic live set Grant and his band pull off. Not a dull moment on this recording and with Wilton Felder of the Crusaders on electric bass how can you NOT own a copy?
