Heaven is the seventh studio album by American indie rock band The Walkmen, released on May 29, 2012 on Fat Possum Records and Bella Union. Heaven was recorded between November 2011 to March 2012 in Seattle and in the woods of Washington. The album was produced by Phil Ek and featured contributions from Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold and Morgan Henderson and Cocteau Twins' Simon Raymonde. The band wanted to work with Phil Ek because of his work on Helplessness Blues
You & Me is more than their most focused record to date- it's also their most carefully crafted and heartfelt while simultaneously feeling totally effortless. Rarely has the word "unambitious" translated into such a positive attribute: They just make it look that easy. After a downturn with 2006's A Hundred Miles Off and a grisly full-album cover of Nilsson/Lennon's Pussy Cats, the Walkmen triumphantly return to form. You & Me is more than their most focused record to date- it's also their most carefully crafted and heartfelt while simultaneously feeling totally effortless.

However, travel is one of You & Me's major themes, with beaches, holidays, and provinces placing these songs all over the map. That plays perfectly into the Walkmen's uncanny ability to conjure specific places in their music: "Donde Esta La Playa," from its turista title to its deconstructed surf guitars to lyrics like "there is still sand in my suitcase/there is still salt in my teeth," plays like blurry but vivid memories - and proof that not everything that happens on vacation stays on.
Overall, You & Me is a great album, but I don’t see it being one I’ll listen to nonstop anytime soon. I’m too much of an energetic person for that. The Walkmen truly have created something great here though, and hopefully this album won’t get overlooked. You & Me just might be their best album yet. Artists.
