Caetano Veloso is the debut solo album by the artist of the same name, released in Brazil in 1968. He had released Domingo the year before in collaboration with Gal Costa.

Caetano Veloso, Brazilian Songs w/Guitar. Reissue with new softpak packaging. Recorded in 1985 in New York, this album features Brazilian singer and songwriter Caetano Veloso, mostly accompanying himself with an acoustic guitar, and it is a triumph of understatement and nuance. Veloso is a poet-the words are in Portuguese but are translated in the booklet-and delivers the words with an uncanny sense for shadings, and impeccable phrasing.

Veloso first became known for his participation in the Brazilian musical movement Tropicalismo, which encompassed theatre, poetry and music in the 1960s, at the beginning of the Brazilian military dictatorship. He has remained a constant creative influence and best-selling performing artist and composer ever since.
