While the band only lasted a bit more than three years, Frantix managed to release two 7" EPs and a cassette-only collection of demos, all of which are included on My Dad's a Fuckin' Alcoholic, along with a fistful of previously unreleased live material.

My Dad's A Fuckin' Alcoholic (Live) Ladies and Gentlemen, meet the legendary Frantix! Their unique sound and chaotic live show transfixed the early 1980s Colorado punk scene and these are all of the band's studio tracks, along with rare, unreleased and great sounding live and demo songs. They evolved into the equally legendary grunge band The Fluid, who were one of Sub Pop's first non-Seattle bands back in 1988. In the short time they were together, Frantix released just two 7-inch records, collected together in this reissue with previously unreleased tracks.

My Dad's a fuckin' Alcoholic" is about just that, and "You're Ill" attacks someone with questions about their mental health, despite suffering from the same affliction. Songs like "Dancin' to punk" from puzzles as to their meanings. Is the song saluting the danger of punk rock, or is it attacking conformity from within the scene–. Smartly, Alternative Tentacles packaged up pretty much every song officially released by the band, including their two eps, their cassette album, as well as unreleased live recordings. Frantix had a very short lifespan, but within the time period, they create some of the most vicious, yet most rocking, punk rock of the day. Perhaps they knew they only had a short time together or maybe the reason they broke up so quickly was because they were such a volatile group. Luckily for us, they were able to catch that in a bottle before the whole thing went kablooie.

Their follow up was posted a long time ago and is just as brilliant so check it out if you haven´t. My Dad´. s a bonafide classic but my choice is Your Ill. Yepp that´s right.
