In no way does Slowdive retread old ground or attempt to recapture the erstwhile spirit of 90's indie-rock. This is extraordinarily fresh and beautifully textured stuff. From the very first moments, you can notice both, the delicate or even drowsy vocal of Douglas and very determined, noisy guitars. Blasphemy< misleads a bit with its slow pace and great usage of silence.

Pygmalion is the third studio album by English shoegazing band Slowdive, released on 6 February 1995 by record label Creation. It was the final album before Slowdive disbanded in 1995. A departure from their previous two albums, Pygmalion incorporated a more experimental sound tilted towards ambient electronic music, with sparse, atmospheric arrangements. All compositions were by Neil Halstead. Lyrics on tracks "Miranda" and "Visions of LA" were by Rachel Goswell.

Formed in 1989, in Reading, Berkshire, England, Slowdive got to release three studio albums during its ’90s heyday – the slow, fuzzy Just for a Day (1991), the more sparse and ambient Souvlaki (1993), and the minimalistic, with a hint of acoustic intent Pygmalion (1995). Unfortunately, soon after the release of the band’s third work, the members disbanded and pursued separate projects. He participates at various community events; and he explores the diverse cultural beauty of Canada whenever his schedule permits i. Lfie is a doting and dedicated father to his now ten-year-old son, Evawwen.

Just seven notes, the sixth of which leaps unexpectedly up an octave instead of continuing the bassline’s descent. Or at the end of Slomo, when Rachel Goswell’s voice pulls off a similar trick, first when she takes over lead vocals from Neil Halstead, then when she starts singing them at the very top of her register. At the end of Go Get It, Halstead sings two different lyrics laid on top of one another simultaneously, like his conversation with Goswell is over and now he's talking to himself. If there’s a story to Slowdive-the band’s return to active recording together after decades of slowly mounting critical and audience acclaim-beyond the human-interest angle of the return itself, the swerves in the songcraft tell it: This is an album as thoughtful as it is beautiful. You can hear the attention to detail even in the album’s most conventionally pop songs.

Slowdive’s slow rehabilitation from music-critic pariahs to shoegaze heroes began long before their reunion in 2014. Yet despite the fact that. While this indicates a return to Slowdive’s best self, the album is anything but a throwback. Importantly, it sounds fresh, modern and–most of all–full of life. Part of that could be down to the band’s decision to record live in the studio; each track on Slowdive has the momentum of a live performance, which only makes the experience more thrilling. Even so, the band maintain a sense of professionalism throughout. Kevin Korber is a life-long New York City resident with a fondness for fine scotches and an unhealthy addiction to music, film, and pop culture in general. His work can be found in Elmore Magazine and Pop Matters. You can find him on Tumblr, and you can find him on Twitter at niskevin.

Album · 2017 · 8 Songs. Some bands take a few years to regroup for their next move; dream-pop pioneers Slowdive took 22, a return all the more bittersweet given how many bands their sound has influenced since. Combining the atmospherics of ambient music with rock ’n’ roll’s low center of gravity, Slowdive sounds as vital as anything the band recorded in the early ‘90s, whether it’s the foggy, countryish inflections of No Longer Making Time or the propulsive Star Roving.
