Listen to Emmy's new album as she talks us through each track. Dinosaur Sex During one tour I took photos of power plants in the north of England. When I started writing songs for Virtue I stuck these pictures on my wall, along with some of a cargo bay in Hong Kong that had fascinated me as a kid. I'm terrified about climate change in an abstract way, which I imagine is what it was like to be growing up in the shadow of the bomb. I would have been one of those people who built a bunker.

Released through the band's own Close Harbour imprint and financed via the PledgeMusic fan-funding scheme, it is a far bigger, roomier set than debut album First Love, wherein many of the same players revolve around the core duo of Moss and Euan Hinshelwood. Along with producer Gareth Jones, the latter is responsible for the musical shift in tone. Softly wailing electric guitars and fuzzy basslines underpin many of the songs, which – married to Moss's plangent tones and a bevy of backing vocalists – creates a dreamy, otherworldly effect.

At times delicate and gentle, and yet capable of stirring force, it is not a case of if you are beguiled by her voice, it is when

Perspectives of mythological and ordinary characters are presented in thought provoking metaphors. This isn't an album to listen to casually. The lyrics provoke empathy with characters seemingly distant from our world. These songs reach into our psyche so that we may find some ancient (or not) facet that often has no verbal form. It looks into the daughter of Troy's gift/curse of prophesy with no believers
