Coro de Cámara del Orfeón Donostiarra Orquesta Sinfónica R. Frühbeck De Burgos - Conductor. For many, the lyric comedy La chulapona (Madrid, Teatro Calderón, 31st March 1934) is the quintessential Madrid zarzuela. It is certainly a fabulous compendium of the dances, sounds and popular scenes of that lost Golden Age of the 1890's which it evokes so strongly. Romero and Shaw packed their highly theatrical libretto with a host of situations familiar from the género chico classics of Chueca, Chapí and Torregrosa (whose La fiesta de San Anton is notably similar in general outline) without inducing any sense of deja vu. At the centre of their colourful web of characters is the inevitable love triangle; yet all three luckless lovers are sympathetically drawn, not least La chulapona Manuela herself.

The Orfeón Donostiarra is a concert choir based in San Sebastián, Basque Country, Spain. The choir was formed in 1897 in San Sebastián. The first music directors were Miguel Oñate, Luzuriaga and Esnaola. In June 1906 the group was awarded the Gran Prix of Paris. The next music director was Juan Gorostidi, who served until his death 1968, when Antxón Ayestarán became the next conductor. Since 1986 the choir is conducted by its presend music director José Antonio Sáinz.

Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos (born Rafael Frühbeck; 15 September 1933, Burgos, Spain – 11 June 2014, Pamplona, Spain) was a Spanish conductor and composer. Frühbeck came from a family of German ancestry. He then sent for his fiancée in Germany, and the couple reunited in Spain

Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos was a Spanish conductor and composer. During this time, the orchestra's manager persuaded Frühbeck to use a name that would more clearly indicate his Spanish identity. He subsequently took the professional surname

The choirs of Orfeón Donostiarra and Singers' Choir of Madrid also contributed, rounding out the overall quality of the works. After Argenta's death others such as Indalecio Cisneros and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos continued in his footsteps. There were also recordings made conducted by the composers themselves, such as Pablo Sorozábal and Federico Moreno Torroba. Many well-known singers, including Victoria de los Angeles and Montserrat Caballé, have recorded albums of zarzuela songs and arias. Many zarzuela productions are now to be seen on DVD and Blu-ray disc. La chulapona (1934) Federico Moreno Torroba. Los claveles (1929) José Serrano. La corte de Faraón (1910) Vicente Lleó.
