The alias was revived by the compilers of this unauthorized release, which nowhere includes the name Dylan-though the extensive rear cover notes do refer several times to "Bob. Comparably, while one side of the album features vocals by Tiny Tim, backed by the Hawks, he is referred to only by his less familiar birth name, Herbert Khaury, in the notes. A Night Without Sleep" is formally cataloged as "Rock, Salt and Nails.

For his debut album, see Bob Dylan (album). American singer-songwriter, musician, author, and artist. Following his self-titled debut album in 1962, which mainly comprised traditional folk songs, Dylan made his breakthrough as a songwriter with the release of The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan the following year. The album featured "Blowin' in the Wind" and the thematically complex "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall". For many of these songs he adapted the tunes and sometimes phraseology of older folk songs. Best regarded of these were "Blind Willie McTell", a tribute to the dead blues musician and an evocation of African American history, "Foot of Pride" and "Lord Protect My Child"

The Blind Boy Grunt alias was certainly one of the wittiest pseudonyms in pop history, poking fun at the whole notion of young white guys digging into the early-20th century repertoire of blues legends like Blind Boy Fuller. Its use wasn't limited to that 1963 Broadside album, either. In early 1963, Dylan contributed harmonica and backup vocals to an album recorded by fellow folkies Richard Farina and Eric Von Schmidt; when the LP was finally released in 1967 (as Dick Farina & Eric Von Schmidt), his parts were attributed to Blind Boy Grunt. In November 1971, a couple more songs Dylan.
