Eric Clapton is the debut solo studio album by British rock musician Eric Clapton, released in August 1970 under Atco and Polydor Records. After being successful with bands including The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Cream and Blind Faith, Clapton recorded an album under his own name in late 1969 and early 1970. The album cover shows Clapton sitting in a room which is going to be decorated and in which a ladder, a chair and some carpets are placed.

Released on its own and as part of the two-disc package The Eric Clapton Collection, the second volume of Dressed to Kill's compilation of Clapton recordings, like its predecessor, carries no annotations beyond song titles in an attempt to deceive potential purchasers about its contents. The cover photograph of a mature Clapton belies the material at hand, which consists largely of miscellaneous Yardbirds tracks originally issued on such albums as Five Live Yardbirds and Sonny Boy Williamson and the Yardbirds. of the tracks, "Jeff's Blues" and "Train Kept a Rollin'," date from after Clapton's departure from the Yardbirds; they feature Jeff Beck on guitar, not Clapton.

Eric Clapton has revealed to Rolling Stone details of his next studio album project, his health, how he feels about the forthcoming documentary Life In 12 Bars, which charts his often turbulent life - and the advice he gave Ed Sheeran. Clapton says that he is currently making what will be the follow-up to 2016’s I Still Do, but that it will be something of a sequel to The Breeze: An Appreciation of JJ Cale, the 2014 album he recorded in tribute to one of his great heroes and friends. I’m in the middle of it, he says in the interview with writer David Fricke, adding that the record is rooted.
