When issued as a single in May 1970, a month after the Beatles' break-up, it became the group's 20th and last number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. It was the final single released by the quartet.

The long and winding road That leads to your door Will never disappear I've seen that road before It always leads me here Lead me to you door. The wild and windy night That the rain washed away Has left a pool of tears Crying for the day Why leave me standing here Let me know the way. Many times I've been alone And many times I've cried Any way you'll never know The many ways I've tried. But still baby they lead me back To the long winding road You left me standing here Such long, long, long, long, time ago Don't leave me waiting here (Don't leave me waiting.

The actual long and winding road itself, that Paul McCartney is referring to, is literally the B842, which runs from Kintyre, Scotland to Campbeltown, where McCartney had a farm and lived with his family. When Paul McCartney wrote the tune, he had Ray Charles in mind, to sing it. The song was offered to Tom Jones in 1968, though Tom turned it down, being involved in his own project at the time. The actual story behind the song, in Paul McCartney’s own words is; I was a bit flipped out and tripped out at that time

The Long and Winding Road. Winding Road (Ayaka and Kobukuro song).

The Long and Winding Road" is a song from Marisol Nichols 2012 album, Live Another Day. The long and winding road that leads to your door Will never disappear I've seen that road before it always leads me here Leads me to your door
