Blue Moves is the eleventh studio album release by Elton John. It was released in October 1976. It was John's second double album (after Goodbye Yellow Brick Road) and the first to be released by his own label, Rocket Records Ltd. Despite the album's darker tone, it reached no. 3 on the charts.

The immense creativity that had spurred Elton John to realize no less than 11 studio albums in under seven years was beginning to show signs of inevitable fatigue. The same can be said as well of the artist's unfathomable physical stamina, which had included practically nonstop touring around the globe since the early '70s. Although initially Blue Moves (1976) was summarily dismissed by both critics as well as longtime enthusiasts, the double LP has since gained considerable stature within John's voluminous catalog.

Elton John Blue Moves. by thebhoy EMERITUS May 5th, 2009 6 replies. Release Date: 1976 Tracklist. After a short instrumental opener the listener is brought into perhaps the best example as to why this album was less popular. Tonight is one of the most beautifully composed songs of Elton John’s career and deserves to be placed amongst any enthusiasts list of Top Elton John Songs. However, at over 7 minutes in length including a sweeping three minute intro orchestrated by James Newton Howard (who did all the orchestration on the album), the song is not exactly readily packaged for airplay. In fact the moody (oh, Blue Moves, I get it) atmosphere of the album makes it a far departure from.

Blue Moves – 11. studyjny album muzyczny brytyjskiego piosenkarza i kompozytora Eltona Johna. Nagrany został w marcu 1976 w studio Eastern Sound w Toronto, a wydany 22 października 1976 w Wielkiej Brytanii i 28 października w USA. Był to drugi podwójny album w karierze pianisty, oraz pierwszy nagrany we własnym studiu Rocket Records Ltd. Podczas promującego krążek koncertu na stadionie Wembley, Elton John spontanicznie oznajmił: "That's it, this is the last on. ("To tyle.
