Saturday Night Fever is the soundtrack album from the 1977 film Saturday Night Fever starring John Travolta. It remains the best-selling soundtrack of all time with over 54 million units sold (double disc album. In the United States, the album was certified 16 Platinum for shipments of at least 16 million units. The album stayed atop the album charts for 24 straight weeks from January to July 1978 and stayed on Billboard's album charts for 120 weeks until March 1980

Saturday Night Fever" was a never-to- be-repeated phenomenon. It is the definitive record of the explosion that took over Pop culture, that has come to be known as Disco. Disco lives on today under different names like Club, House, Trance, Rave, and others. There's no mistaking it for music from any other decade. Yet despite that, I feel many of the songs from the soundtrack have a timeless quality to them. Maybe because they're some of the music from the life soundtrack of my teen years. I just know that the grins mean something, and it's a good thing.

Saturday Night Fever, as a movie and an album, plus a brace of hit singles off of it, suddenly made disco explode into mainstream, working- and middle-class America with a new immediacy and urgency, increasing its audience ten-fold overnight.
