Berlioz, Ravel, Debussy & Poulenc. 20 January 2012 - 4:19pm. Submitted by root admin. Album title: Collection: Régine Crespin. Composer(s): Berlioz, Debussy & Poulenc, Ravel. Works: Les nuits d’été; Shéhérazade. Only the opening ‘Villanelle’ of Berlioz’s ‘Nuits d’été’ finds Crespin a little too sophisticated (and Ernest Ansermet rather off his guard): Janet Baker and Barbirolli (EMI) convey its rustic charm more successfully.

Album · 1999 · 19 Songs. Les nuits d'été, O. : 1. Villanelle. By Hector Berlioz & Théophile Gautier - Régine Crespin, L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande & Ernest Ansermet. 2. : 2. Le spectre de la rose.

Les nuits d'été (Summer Nights), Op. 7, is a song cycle by the French composer Hector Berlioz. It is a setting of six poems by Théophile Gautier. The cycle, completed in 1841, was originally for soloist and piano accompaniment. Berlioz orchestrated one of the songs in 1843, and did the same for the other five in 1856.
