Controversy is the fourth full-length studio album by Prince. It was released worldwide in October 1981 (twelve months after his previous album, Dirty Mind). Specific recording dates for most of the album's tracks are not known. The album was completed at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California, between 14-23 August 1981.
