Gas Huffer was an American garage rock band from Washington state. They were known for their informal and comical lyrics and their antic stage presence. Gas Huffer classified themselves loosely in the garage punk genre. The band created comic books with each album (drawn by all four members of the band, including Joe Newton, now deputy art director for Rolling Stone magazine), that contain the lyrics to the songs. This was done for every album up to (and including) "Just Beautiful Music".

Ethyl wears its intentions pretty clearly on its sleeve, at least if the song titles are anything to go by - "Want to Kiss You," "Eat You Whole," "Buck Naked," "Mouthful. There's also the need for a good party atmosphere, though, and that's what Gas Huffer can always deliver in spades. Want to Kiss You" starts with a quick wail of feedback and then takes off, everything from gang-shout backing vocals to righteous wailing on Wright's part setting the deliciously lewd mood.

Gas Huffer was formed in 1989 by vocalist Matt Wright, guitarist Tom Price, bassist Don Blackstone and drummer Joe Newton. As befitting their Seattle origins, the band plays rootsy punk rock with equal nods to Neil Young and the Cramps. Debut single "Firebug" was released in 1989, followed a year later by the Ethyl EP. Empty Records signed the band and in 1991 issued Gas Huffer's debut album, Janitors of Tomorrow. Two years later, the band returned with Integrity, Technology and Service, but moved to the Epitaph label for 1994's One Inch Masters
